Interesting Facts
• In SOS 3 Episode 1, Whitney never actually said the line "Can I try that thing?" It was a line created during editing.
• Because we were able to edit the voices for Season 3, we were able to cut out long pauses easier within lines, resulting in the final edit being usually at least a full minute shorter.
• In Episode 5 of Season 3, Luther says "The flamethrower." Originally, Luther was going to find a flamethrower at the power plant in episode 3 of the season, but unfortunately the level we used for that set didn't allow flamethrowers. However, the lines had already been voiced, and Luther usually ended up with the flamethrower anyway for no reason during filming so Stephen Acy decided not to redo the line.
• The bird in the background during some of Xyveau's lines in Episode 6 of Season 3 is named PK, Stephany's pet.
• The Stephens in Season 3 are based loosely on the two Stephens in the group.
• Voices tend to change slightly from one season to the next. Particularly Jack's. Acy decided to use a different voice for him during the voicing of season 4.
• Xyveau's voice in season 3 sounds almost like it is coming over a radio. This is because she didn't come to the recording session and therefore didn't use the same microphone as everyone else.
• Apparently, no one in the group can actually pronounce the word "escape" correctly on the first try. It's always "ecscape" no matter who says it.
• The word "sectary" in episode 16 may sound natural, but it's actually the result of an editing mishap. We liked it better than "secretary".
• Our writer is horrible with names, and he's horrible at coming up with names; two facts which may or may not be related.
• Our "editor" can and will only edit videos. His spelling is atrocious.
• We always refer to Stephen Acy and Stephen Wills by their last names.
• Unfortunately, most of us have lives. Many of us often had to control two characters at the same time during filming.
• Stephen Acy was the only person who knew what we were doing while filming. Often, he'd want us to go somewhere in the game, and we'd have to follow his character. We would always cringe at the sound of "follow camera" when controlling two characters.
• We have invested no money into the making of the videos or the website except for the domain name.
• Some of the cast of SOS: Signs of Stupidity were involved in the making of a Halo machinima film called Defenders Unguided as well.
• David Cummings was THE WORST puppeteer ever.
• About half the puppeteers had never played Halo before filming this series. Only two had much experience with the game and one had to control the camera.
• To get the computer to pronounce certain words correctly for the voice of the robot, we had to intentionaly misspell those words. For example, the computer voice could not pronounce the word "robot" so we had to spell it "rowbaught" for it to sound right.
• Because Stephen Acy got the grand idea to move away from everyone he knows, filming of Signs of Stupidity season 2 had to be filmed at Duke's house.
• Due to busy schedules, and lousy luck, we had to bring in outside help to get season 2 filmed. These puppeteers will be offered voice roles in season 3 out of gratitude.
• We have more xboxes than Halo 2 games...
• For every two hours that we film, on average, we get two and a half episodes filmed.
• We always tend to forget to film something important, and have to go back and reshoot some parts of the scene over.
• Stephen Acy and Stephen Wills know more about the physics of Halo 2 than they had ever hoped to know.
• Duke Roberts' real name is not actually Duke, but he would always wear a Duke University Shirt so that's what we always called him.
• It is SOOO hard not to kill other players while filming.
